The AAMCO Free Transcan Service is a systematic and comprehensive external evaluation of the overall performance and condition of your transmission.
A trained technician will check the level and condition of your transmission fluid:
- A low fluid level may indicate a leak
- Contaminated fluid has water or particles in the fluid.
- Burnt fluid indicates damage from overheating.
- Varnished fluid has been overheated repeatedly.
- Normal fluid is reddish-brown and translucent, depending on transmission type, with
no particular odor.
The technician will also check the level and condition of transfer case and differential
fluid, where applicable.
The technician takes your car on a road test, to experience first-hand any problems you have
noticed, and to evaluate your car's performance.
Your vehicle will be placed on a lift to inspect the controls under the vehicle for any possible

Sometimes something goes wrong in the computer system of today's highly technical, computer-controlled vehicles that can result in your transmission receiving the wrong signals. The AAMCO Computer Diagnostic Service is performed to determine if an electronic component is affecting your transmission's shifting or overall performance.
The AAMCO Computer Diagnostic Service includes:
- Using a computer system scanner to retrieve any trouble codes and to determine the probable cause. All critical computer systems in the vehicle are checked for trouble codes, because a variety of systems could cause drive ability issues.
- Reviewing the computer system data against AAMCO Code Books, the most extensive

- Connecting the AAMCO Kwiktest™ PlusBox to see whether the problem is inside or outside of the transmission in the computer system.
A certified AAMCO center technician will also:
